Although most images are now shot digitally, it is just as important to preserve images from our past. With this in mind photochroma offers a range of services to help you keep your printed photographs just as safe as your digitally shot images.
Restoration
Photochroma can restore images from a diverse range of photographic media. These restored photographs can then be saved as a digital image which can be kept as an archive to produce further prints. The full range of supported media is shown below:
Once the image has been converted from any of these media to a digital image any damage to original images can be elimintated to restore them as near to their original state as possible. The most common type of restoration work is the removal of scratches and creases, removal of damaged edges to prints and fading of colour and contrast caused by light exposure. The image below is from a sepia toned print, approximately 5x7 inches, printed in the mid 1940's. The client required the physical damage to be removed and the image converted to black & white. All image restoration and archiving is charged at an hourly rate of £20. The length of time taken to restore a image will depend on the condition of the image and the amount of detail present. A quotation can be sent to you on inspection of your image.
